Long live the Green Belzabob. Six months ago, customers and employees at The Green Door Blues Bar and Grill met to decide which drink to adopt as the bar's signature drink. After a taste test of concoctions, the patrons picked a winner.
Now, the Green Belzabob reigns at 2005 E. Grand River Ave. in Lansing, with its breezy emerald aesthetics and refreshing aftertaste.
The Belzabob is on the lighter side. It blends a sweet mixture of fruit liquors with the mild sting of an energy drink. While it may take more money than you want to dish out to get a good buzz going, the spike of energy serves as a great kick start to the night. In other words, this is your leadoff drink.
Unlike most cocktails touting sweets over alcoholic substance, the Belzabob manages to accomplish something particularly pleasing: It's delicious. The melon seems to mesh with the Malibu in just the right way, making The Green Door's smoky, television-lit bar feel like some white sand beach running parallel to a luxurious seaside resort. Well sort of.
Make no mistake - the only thing you're going to feel from this drink is a caffeine high and a mild sugar rush, but at least it gets the ball rolling. If you're in the mood for a great-tasting first drink, this is your best bet.
