Day in park for man's best friend
There are few things in life I love more than watching dogs run around and enjoy life.
If you can’t get tickets to Saturday’s football game, you should definitely make your way to the Northern Tail Dog Park on Abbot Road for the “Ruff” Rally. This two-mile rally will consist of various challenging events for dogs such as object hunting, skill demonstration and task performance.
You don’t have to own a dog to enjoy the pure joy as they approach everything they do. I mean, dogs will roll around on the carpet like it’s their favorite thing in the world – imagine how they’d feel if they got to run around outside and roll around in mud.
The idea of doggy challenges also intrigues me. I’ve watched the Great Outdoor Games on ESPN (sort of the Olympics of the backwoods) and the events the dogs competed in there consisted of dogs sprinting off decks and into water. I know the “Ruff” Rally won’t have anything quite as exciting, but it would definitely be worth it to watch Ol’ Scratchy try and jump through some tires or something.
Do your favorite nonhuman a favor and take him out to the Northern Tail Dog Park at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The cost is $20 for one dog and handler and $5 for an additional dog.
