The MSU Museum announced the lineup for the 2009 Great Lakes Folk Festival, which takes place Aug. 7-9.

The initial lineup includes such performers as the Berntson Family Band, a Norwegian-American group, and the Western swing band Shotgun Party.

A full lineup is available at museum.msu.edu. In addition to musical performances, the festival will include a variety of other cultural programs.

One program new to the festival is Fiesta!, a celebration of Latino crafts, culture and tradition.

The festival also will feature 2009 Michigan Heritage Award nominees Willard Finch of Stockbridge, for decorative architectural painting, and Les Ross Sr. of Marquette, for Finnish “lumberjack-style” harmonica playing. Taste of Traditions Foodways will provide a diverse collection ethnic and regional foods.

Admission to the festival is free, although donations are encouraged.
