Venture beyond E.L. for best breakfast

Going out for breakfast is always a great way to start a weekend day. I traveled a little out of my East Lansing comfort zone for the ultimate weekend comfort food — a bacon and eggs breakfast at The Golden Harvest, 1625 Turner St., in Lansing. And after my experience there, I’ll drive the extra couple miles west on Grand River Avenue to hit up this Lansing breakfast nook instead of confining myself to East Lansing.

It was late on a Saturday night, too late, and the party we had been gathering at was abruptly ended, casting us all out in the dark and cold. Perhaps this made it that much more intriguing.

When it comes to late-night food options for the student on a budget, East Lansing has room to improve. While we certainly have our share of cookie cutter fast food joints and a few pizza places, what we do lack is a solid 24-hour restaurant close to campus.

Big screen TVs, ESPN, good food and friendly service. Of course sports bars are a vital part of society. Another necessary aspect such sports bars bring to the table (literally) is spinach and artichoke dip.
