Gamers can rock out to Fab Four soon
Are the remaining Beatles selling out? It kind of looks that way.
The Beatles’ Apple Corps Ltd. announced recently they will be putting out a video game based on Beatles music for 2009.
According to Rolling Stone magazine, the game concept had input from Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono and Olivia Harrison.
It’s understandable that video gamers want to rock out to the classics, but I thought The Beatles were above this.
It is known that The Beatles have chosen not to let listeners buy their music on iTunes. It would seem that letting their music become a part of the popular “Guitar Hero”-like games would be along the same lines.
The don’t need the money, so it looks as though the remaining Beatles franchise is trying to reach out to a younger audience. That is admirable, but it’s just sad it had to be done in this way.
The classic music featured on these video games barely compares to listening to the real thing. It’s fun to interact with your favorite music, but some music should be left untouched — like The Beatles
