Spears' new album not bad
If you haven’t heard, Britney Spears’ album “Circus” has leaked on the Internet.
With the help of some of my technologically advanced friends, I was able to listen to the whole thing, and I’m going to say that it’s not bad.
The album, which is supposed to be released on Dec. 2, Spears’ 27th birthday, was leaked in full length about a week ago.
The album is dance-pop driven, with a few slow songs. A synthesizer and vocalizer play big parts on the album, but that’s nothing new to the pop princess. If anything, she is the original T-Pain.
The first song on the album is familiar because it is burning up the charts. “Womanizer” is an upbeat dance tune that has a very catchy and repetitive chorus. It will get stuck in your head for days.
Other songs that stand out on the album are “Circus,” “Shattered Glass” and “Lace and Leather.” All are upbeat, techno dance songs, but “Lace and Leather” is especially appealing because it is reminiscent of Prince in the ’80s, along the lines of “Raspberry Beret.”
The album has a very manufactured sound, but it is the perfect album to put on before you go out or when you want to dance.
The relatively good quality of this album is not a surprise — last year Spears released “Blackout,” which was a solid album, when she could barely function. This is a nice follow-up and it’s nice to have the real Britney back.
She is in talks to do a major tour next spring, but she has to get permission from the court before she can do so. We will have to wait and see about that one, but in the meantime, check out the album just to form your own thoughts on the future career of Spears.
