MSU's greatest musicians set to play Wharton Center

Throughout high school, I was in choir and my brother was in band. It was during that time I developed a deeper appreciation for music.

That’s one of the reasons why I will be checking out Spartan Spectacular this Saturday at the Wharton Center’s Cobb Great Hall. The show will begin with MSU’s Symphony Band. Ensembles to be featured throughout the concert include the Wind Symphony, Jazz Octet I, the Sunny Wilkinson Quartet and the Beaumont Brass.

The program will end with a performance by the MSU marching band, which will play a selection of songs from its 2008 season.

Tickets for this event cost $10-$12. Senior citizens can purchase tickets for $8, however.

The show is expected to last for an hour and 45 minutes. There will be two opportunities to see the show, at 4 p.m. and again at 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at the Wharton Center box office.

Even if it means taking a study break, I’m certainly not going to miss out on listening to some of MSU’s greatest musicians.
