Pacino, De Niro share big screen, finally

I haven’t been looking forward to a movie this much since Martin Scorsese gave us “The Departed” in 2006 and Quentin Tarantino put out “Grindhouse” in 2007.

And although “The Departed” was awesome, “Death Proof” was kind of a letdown. So this year I’m putting all my eggs in one basket:

“Righteous Kill.”

Al Pacino. Robert De Niro.

Sept. 12.

Seriously, does it get any better?

This is the first time that De Niro and Pacino will share real screen time in their careers.

Both were members of the cast in 1974’s “The Godfather: Part II,” but in separate story lines. And although they shared a couple scenes together in “Heat” back in 1995, there wasn’t much interaction between the characters.
Not this time.

From the limited trailers I’ve seen, there’s going to be plenty of face time.

And I can’t wait. Maybe the movie will fall short of my expectations, but I have a good feeling about this one. We’ll have to wait and see.

I’ll have the review for you guys on Sept. 15 in our Lansing Lowdown section, so stay tuned if you’re on the fence.
