Movie titles lacking in originality
My last assignment was to find upcoming movies in 2009, which was actually fun. I got to read up on new movies and figure out what was worth seeing. While I was looking for this information, I went through many movie titles and noticed a couple similarities that I find slightly irritating.
Remember last year when the movie “P.S. I Love You” came out? It was a huge chick flick, and some people loved it and some people hated it. Personally, I fell asleep within the first 20 minutes. But, the title was the first of its kind.
Well, not for long. This year we have three movies coming out with those three little words right in the title… again. “New York, I Love You,” “I Love You, Beth Cooper” and “I Love You, Man” will be released this year. People already misuse the word “love.” Now, the whole phrase will be played out.
At least these movies use a common phrase. There are actually two movies with the same name releasing in 2009. “9” comes out Sept. 9, and three months later, “Nine” will be released on Dec. 11. What?!
One of these movies needs to step down. I already confuse “Apocalypto” and “Apocalypse Now” despite the 27 years that passed between their release dates and the fac† their titles are different. I do not care how unique “9” and “Nine” may be plot-wise. The titles are not just similar but phonetically the same. Why would they do this? Perhaps the producers think it’s catchy since it is the ninth year of the millenium.
There is also a movie called “District 9” coming out in August. People in Hollywood are obviously ecstatic about the year 2009.

Is it really necessary to waste your time writing about this? I read two paragraphs before I was bored. Step it up. No one cares.
