3-D T.V. one step closer to reality
A team of researchers at the University of Arizona have broken a barrier by making the first updatable 3-D TV display.
In other words, we’re one step closer to having a holographic 3-D TV become a reality.
The researchers have been working since 1990 to develop hologram technology. Their latest development allows 3-D displays to be erased and rewritten in minutes.
According to the researchers, a 3-D TV could be a flat screen against the wall, with images popping out of it, or a horizontal panel, such as a table, with the holographic images on top.
They hope to have the technology available by the year 2020.
Is this a fathomable goal?
We also thought there would be flying cars and buildings floating in the sky “The Jetsons”-style by now.
But a 3-D TV would be pretty cool — watching “Arrested Development” would mean Michael Cera could be practically standing on my coffee table.
