Wu-Tang Clan revisits history in new documentary's soundtrack

Imported straight from Shaolin, “Wu: The Story of the Wu-Tang Clan,” dropped Tuesday. Since I haven’t seen the documentary, here’s my own version of Wu history as chronicled by the soundtrack: Around the time of its seminal debut, “Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers),” the clan had hip-hop fans in the palms of its hands — or, if you prefer, perilously balanced on the edge of a kung fu sword.

New Bond flick drags in parts, doesn't let Craig shine as actor

James Bond still has it, but he left some of it in the last movie. The latest in the Bond series, “Quantum of Solace,” which premiered Friday, doesn’t blow the viewer away like the 2006 “Casino Royale” did, but it certainly wasn’t a bore. The film, which takes place moments after “Casino Royale” ends, doesn’t waste any time diving into a high-action car chase to set the pace.

Comedy over coffee? It doesn’t sound right, but it works. The second comedy show at The Cappuccino Cafe, 1500 W. Lake Lansing Road, was a big hit Thursday evening. The venue, which holds 10-15 tables, was packed with patrons interested in sipping coffee and hearing the comic talents of Joe Brandon, Tom Slovinski and Denny Green.

'Back to the Future' perfect mix of script, casting, directing

Doc Brown, take me back to another time, would you? No, not 1955. Just to an age where movies seemed exciting, fun and full of adventure. Yes, I’m talking about the ’80s. Maybe it’s nostalgia, but they don’t make movies like “Back to the Future” anymore.
