Although Ian Hudson (vocalist and guitarist) and Ryan Walters (guitarist) have known each other and been in bands together since middle school, their new band Sherwin Bonsoir has only been around for about one year. While they don’t classify their music as just electronic, they do think it’s about having fun. Here’s their take on things.
The Academy Awards will expand the best picture category from five nominees to 10. This is something about this screams “obvious marketing ploy” to me. It’s also going to make the show longer, which is not a good thing. Although there are a few negative aspects to the announcement, I can’t help but feel any type of publicity that gets more good films seen can’t possibly be all bad — other than an extended run time in the telecast, I’m excited by the prospect, and for those avid Oscar watchers out there, this compounds the drama of the evening.
If ever there was a movie that had a meaning of “don’t do this or it could be you,” the 1987 film “Fatal Attraction” is it. The movie focuses on the repercussions of a one-night stand between Dan Gallagher (Michael Douglas) and Alex Forrest (Glenn Close).
Four years of classes, tests, tailgates and late nights in college prepare us (hopefully) to become adults and get a job one day. The forward momentum of our early lives, high school, college and work is supposed to lead us to the so-called benefits and responsibilities of adulthood. But by following this prescribed path, are we really avoiding making decisions and ducking responsibility for our own happiness?
Loud music following a half-an-hour-late start to the show Thursday night at Mac’s Bar, 2700 E. Michigan Ave., in Lansing, wasn’t the best way to begin the evening.
